Open to new opportunities

Hi, I'm

Jeffrey Perdue.

I build reliable software systems at the intersection of backend services, enterprise data, and the people who depend on them.

I'm a software engineer and graduating senior at Northern Kentucky University (B.S. Applied Software Engineering · GPA 3.9 · May 2026), currently finishing an internship at Kroger Technology & Digital where I've worked across Spring Boot backend services, enterprise SQL data pipelines, and product management tooling.

About

I'm a passionate professional problem solver with a core belief in the pursuit of life-longlearning and growth. I'm a software engineer capable of working across the stack, most engaged when the work has clear operational stakes: building systems that people actually depend on, diagnosing failures before they escalate, and making complex workflows easier to reason about and maintain.

I'm currently finishing my B.S. in Applied Software Engineering at Northern Kentucky University and wrapping up an internship at Kroger Technology, where I've worked on production-adjacent systems across Java, SQL, Azure Synapse, and Databricks. I'm looking for full-time roles on teams that value thoughtful design, observability, and iterative delivery.

Currently working with:

  • Java & Spring Boot
  • Python
  • Azure Synapse / Databricks
  • React & TypeScript
  • SQL
  • Git & Agile workflows

Experience

Software Engineering Intern @ Kroger Technology

August 2025 – April 2026 · Blue Ash, OH

  • Contributed across backend services, frontend tools, and enterprise data platforms using Java Spring Boot, React, SQL, Azure Synapse, and Databricks to support production-adjacent systems.
  • Engineered a production-grade Spring Boot scheduler to monitor device telemetry gaps, query SQL Server for stale records, and dispatch OAuth2-authenticated email alerts with structured error handling and testable service design.
  • Designed version-aware SQL reconciliation logic using CTEs, window functions, and anti-join semantics to manage incremental purchase order loads, enforce soft-deactivation, and eliminate silent pipeline drift.
  • Owned and implemented a centralized internal mapping application as technical owner, standardizing temperature zone codes across distribution centers to enable consistent reporting and controlled business updates.

Research

Undergraduate Research Featured Presenter, ISCAP Conference 2025

Preserving Requirements-Driven Development in the Age of AI

  • Designed and executed an empirical comparison of requirements-driven versus prompt-only LLM development workflows, measuring structural integrity, maintainability, and traceability of AI-generated artifacts.
  • Applied ISO/IEC 25010 quality attributes and IEEE 830 / ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148 standards as evaluation criteria across multiple LLM systems to assess consistency and long-term maintainability risk.
  • Findings presented at ISCAP Conference 2025; research demonstrates measurable quality degradation when structured requirements are omitted from AI-assisted development workflows.
Undergraduate Research

AI-Safe Ontology Engineering for Structured Allergen Reasoning

  • Designed a layered ontology framework to constrain LLM reasoning under uncertainty in safety-critical domains, reducing unjustified safety inferences.
  • Developed a formal exposure-state model requiring positive structural evidence before permitting safety conclusions, directly addressing overconfident LLM outputs.
  • Architected an abstraction pipeline (natural language → structured representation → RDF) to support collaborative ontology construction and experimental evaluation.
